Good morning and happy Saturday! Are you looking for some fibery fun this weekend? Then check out the Golden Fleece Spinning and Weving Guild’s annual Spin-In today at the First Presbyterian Church in Schoharie.
Don’t worry, it’s not just for spinners! Bring your knitting, crochet, felting, weaving, or whatever fiber art you enjoy. If you have thought about joining the guild or want to find out more about what it’s like, this is a perfect opportunity!
I am still a guild member but it has been ages since I have been able to make it to a meeting. Monthly guild meetings often include fiber related programs, workshops, and demonstrations. Many of these are led by guild members and there is a wealth of talent and knowledge about a huge array of topics amongst the guild’s membership.
I am hoping to make it to the Spin-In for a bit in the afternoon.
First up on our agenda this morning is the annual Gem and Mineral Show at the New York State Museum. This event is basically our Valentine’s Day. We gave each other cards on the 14th but that was it. No candy, no flowers, no special dinner, and certainly no presents. Since this show takes place in February every year, we forego the expense of traditional Valentine’s Day nonsense and save our money for pretty rocks instread.
I am off to spin my targhee gradient. It’s coming along beautifully and I will have more to say about it next Saturday.
Have a great weekend!
