You’ve seen it in pictures from the Men’s Spring Knitting Retreat and I’ve promised to write more about it. It’s the new Bliss spinning wheel by ;Woolmakers.
I first heard about the Bliss in a discussion on Ravelry, and that the folks at Woolmakers were giving away the first ten to spinners who were willing to review and help promote the wheel. I don’t have a very good track record when it comes to winning things, but I emailed the folks at Woolmakers anyway and waited patiently. Out of the hundreds of emails they received, I was one of the last four lucky people to be chosen. You can read my full review here.
Woolmakers and the Bliss wheels even have their own group on Ravelry now too.
The Bliss is made by Louet for Woolmakers and it’s an ultra modern design that people will either love or hate. I love it, and it’s a nice complement to the wheels I currently own. A fourth spinning wheel wasn’t anywhere near the top of my list right now, but the opportunity was there and I’m glad I took it. This wheel will make many appearances with me as I hit up local knitting and spinning nights. I will still bring along my Lendrum for my own spinning and have the Bliss available for anyone who wants to try it out. It will make a great student wheel too.
The Bliss starts at about $300(US) not including shipping from the Netherlands, and shipping isn’t as much as you might think.
This might be it for me for spinning wheels now. My dear spouse has threatened to call the producers of the TV show Hoarders if any more show up in the house. I think he’s just joking though. I’ve still got room for a Saxony Lendrum. Really!
Have a great weekend everyone!
